The Lost Art of Being Grateful


Are you thankful? No, I am not talking about being thankful around Thanksgiving. I mean, are you thankful? Like right now?

When was the last time you said THANK YOU, to anyone...or anything?

Do you find it hard to be thankful? Like, do you have to muster up some feeling from the gratitude gods and try to find something...anything...to be thankful for?

I see you....I hear you....

A part of my journey to understanding this thing called life...I have come to find out about this beautiful little thing called gratitude. I have found with my own experience that being grateful is (and was) a huge part of my transformation and truly....I am so thankful. 😊

I mean, just saying the words I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE MANY BLESSINGS IN MY LIFE, doesn't that just put a smile on your face? Go ahead, try it, I dare you. 

There are a ton of resources out there to help us get our gratitude on...books, journals, podcasts, you tube shorts, Tik Tok reels, you name it...there is something out there to help. 

When I first started this journey learning about gratitude. I came across this guy on You Tube. His name is Bob Baker of Bob Baker Inspiration. He was my first exposure to "gratitude affirmations"...and I became hooked. I would listen to these little 10–12-minute gratitude affirmations every morning and I am telling you; I felt my life changing. For the good. 

I still do those affirmations, but the only difference is that I don't have to listen to them on You Tube, they are in my head! That is what happens when you repeat things over and over again...it sticks. So why not have grateful thoughts stuck in your head??? Right? I mean, considering the alternative...there are many things in this world that try to distract you. It's a lot of work to think positively, especially with all the negativity mumbo-jumbo around us. But I have learned a long time ago, that our thoughts do determine our lives. 

Most recently, I started naming 3 things that I am grateful for...in the morning and at night before I go to bed. Sometimes, I list 10 things, sometimes, 3 things, sometimes, I forget, sometimes, I don't even write it down and I just say them in my head....but being grateful is not a one-time thing, it IS a lifestyle, and I am telling you...you will be transformed by it. YOU WILL. πŸ’—

For example, on my list this morning, I wrote,

1. Time well spent with my husband

2. Non-alcoholic drinks

3. My health

It doesn't have to be this crazy long, thoroughly written list - as a matter of fact, you do you...if that makes you happy then DO IT! Write that long list! Be as thorough as possible, or write one word, or two, but whatever you do...be grateful. You may be one of those people who is saying right now in your head, "Oh man, Claudine, that sounds like a lot of work..." It's not, when you think of the BENEFITS

Life is too short not to be GRATEFUL...and truly, we have MUCH, so much, to be thankful for. Right?

So, that brings me to my next question....
